first santa visit

Chad and I brought Greta to meet Santa today. They were having a fundraiser at the St. Anthony Community Center. My cousin, Derek, and his wife, Kirsten, were dressed as Santa and Mrs. Claus for the Lions Club fundraiser.

This was the best picture we got of Greta.
She didn't know what to think of Santa's beard.
I'm glad she wasn't scared but she just couldn't take her eyes off all that white hair.
Maybe she thought Sofie was hiding in there somewhere.
Chad and I snuck in for a quick picture.
Greta's second cousin, Imari, was also there along with her parents, Subashi and Jesse.
Here's Imari with Derek and Kirsten's daughters, Sophia and Carly.

Subashi and I with our little girls. They are a little over five months apart in age.
Waiting in line to see Santa.

Afterwards, we went over to Kirsten and Derek's for pizza. Here's Greta in front of their Christmas tree.

Greta quickly fell asleep on the car ride home as she was exhausted from her big day.

40 weeks

Greta turned 40 weeks yesterday. Greta was born at 40 weeks and 5 days so it's weird that Greta has almost been outside of the womb as long as she was inside. My pregnancy was fairly easy and uneventful but I've definitely enjoyed these last 40 weeks better than when I was pregnant.

She loves clapping

Poor Sofie can't just relax in her bed anymore
without a little girl sneaking over to touch her tail.

Yesterday, Greta and I met my friend, Johanna, and her new baby boy, Harry, and Johanna's mom. Harry was so adorable and tiny. It's hard to remember Greta being that small. You can read more about Harry's story on Johanna's blog http://www.theseprices.net/

Have a great weekend!

wondrous wednesday

Greta and I didn't have any plans out of the house today so we spent a lot of time playing in the house and singing songs. Greta started crawling last Monday so she's starting to get into more things. For the most part, she's usually content just sitting and playing in one spot but now she realizes that if she sees something she wants she can actually move to get it. She used to love the exersaucer from about months 4-7 but lately only wants to be in there for a few minutes and then is bored. I've been working on a few sewing projects this week so I've put Greta in the high chair beside me and she's done a really good job of playing with a few toys in her chair while I sew. She loves to 'pretend' she's drinking from the sippy cup although I don't think she's ever gotten anything out of it yet.

Here's Greta before church a week ago. We had a bad ice storm so we had gotten all ready to go and then the road in front of our house was so icy we decided to turn around and come back home. I tried to take a few pictures of Greta in her cute little dress and then Chad came back in and said that he thought once we got off our street the roads were salted and would be fine so we piled back in the car and rushed to church. The roads were clear and we made it there safely.

Greta entertaining herself in her highchair.
Greta has gotten a lot more strength in her legs lately and can do a really good job of standing with just a little assistance.

This was last Monday when Greta started crawling for the first time.

So far, Greta has been really gentle with Sofie. We just have to keep teaching her 'soft touch with Sofie'.

Sneaky little girl loves to try and play with the vents in her room.

Taking a peak at herself in the mirror.
Relaxing on the couch today with Sofie.
Daddy and Greta at class last night. The instructors brought in some snow from outside for the kids to play with. Greta was really tentative for about the first 20 minutes and then she decided to play with it.

Finger painting with colored pudding on Monday at class.

I've caught Greta a few times laying on her back and 'reading'.
This just makes me laugh.
Waving is a popular pasttime.
And so is sticking out our tongue.Sofie after her bath this weekend.
After class on Monday.

Happy Wednesday everyone!
